WELCOME SWEET LITTLE AUTUMN

When I think of Autumn I think of bright beautiful colors of Orange, Browns and Yellow. Cool Breezes and moist brisk mornings. Hot cup of coffee steaming. Oh my what loveliness. So what better name for my first sweet soul. I felt drawn to all the tones and colors of this most lovely an obviously my favorite time of the year - Autumn

I started by sketching Autumn on a piece of white printer paper. Small and petite, with that tip in the head I always found adorable. Simple muslin material would be a great body with accented brown floral arms and legs which I put a simple joint in. I came across this little honey bee print. A little remnant of the past spring. The idea of not quite letting all of spring disappear and decided to hide this under the paisley prints of browns and tans of the her pantaloons and dress. .

I filled her with this amazing soft fill. It was quite enjoyable. Using long surgical clips and piece by piece added to form her arms, legs and torso.

She began to take form.

I attached her arms with simple white buttons. I soooo love buttons.. I try and incorporated them into everything I do. Try anyway... GrInS. Once all done with her arms, I started working on her hair.

I found this amazing blend of fall colored sock yarn. I thought it would be perfect for Autumns hair. The multiple colors really pulled in the fall look for her. I added each strand one at a time. Alternating to give it a nice blend of all the colors. I was very pleased with the final of it all. I also decided to give Autumn some eyes. I love the blank faces on a doll. So you can imagine what ever emotion you would like. But I felt like eyes today. Each with a single lash. Too cute!

A little Tutorial on how I add hair to my cloth dolls.....makes it thick and opens it up for styling.

Hello World.....

Now to cover our sweet little Autumn. I collected some material I had that I thought went well together. I found a dainty piece of lace, some soft linen in a pastel pink along with some neutral cottons in yellow, browns and tan and a hint of pink.

I loved the paisley print on Autumns arms so I made her little pantaloons from the same material.

Looking sweet as ever there Autumn.

Now I will say - making a dress for a OOAK doll can sometimes be a challenge. I started on this jumper dress. Long with hand stitched loops and button waist band. But just didn't like the way it was too long and covered all the cuteness of her legs and pantaloons. So I was back to the drawing board. I will use this cute dress on a future little soul.

So after much thought and a recollection of new materials for a new upper top I made this adorable short dress. Instead of the pinks I used the yellows, which really complemented the brown. I incorporated some of the lace into the dress. And I covered her shoulders for the Fall chills with the dainty lace shawl, accented with a sweet light pink button. Oh don't you just wanna squeeze her.
